CARP
ADVENTURES
Though
trout get all the glory, southwest Montana offers prime fly fishing
opportunities for carp as well. A sport that’s grown in recent
years, the thrill generated from casting flies to this unique sportfish
is nearly impossible to describe. Almost identical to flats fishing
for redfish or bones, the sight fishing opportunities presented
by carp are second to none.
From tailing and mudding fish to single cruisers, rooters and wolfpacks,
anglers will experience a variety of interesting visual scenarios
throughout the day as these hard fighting fish are not only big
(6-14lbs), they’re also plentiful. Though spotting and stalking is a possibility,
most fishing occurs from the bow of the boat as we ease quietly down
the river looking for tails or snoots. Prime time is mid July though
mid August. You’ll have to see it to believe it. |
