It's hopper time! After several years of mediocre hopper fishing on the Yellowstone we've got it back in a big way this season. From Gardiner to past Big Timber we've experienced excellent surface activity with standards such as Whit's Hopper and the Grand Hopper to new fangled creation such as the pink Chernobyl Ant and the Western Lady Hopper. Until the weather gets cool we can expect the great terrestrial fishing to continue. In some years, fish still eat hoppers into October so we'll hope that's the case this go around. Fishing on the Gallatin remains excellent as well with Spruce Moths producing good topwater action as well. Have also been hearing some great reports coming out of Yellowstone Park - Soda Butte and the Lamar are now at prime levels and are fishing well. Wherever you might end up, grab some hoppers and hold on tight.
