It’s 2015. Just like that, the new year is upon us and with it comes new goals, resolutions, aspirations and so on. Though it may be redundant, around this household the goals for this year are not much different than any that I recall in the past. More and bigger fish of course! While 2014 was a fantastic fishing year by all standards, I see no reason we can’t try to improve upon things in the months ahead. How? I haven’t figured that out yet.
Instead of sitting around speculating, the boys and I figured we should take the bull by the horns and simply head out In search of the years first fish.
Temps were cold yesterday and have been such that rivers are pretty well choked w ice leaving is with no option to grab the auger and head for a local pond. A teardrop jig tipped w a bit of night crawler fished right off the bottom did the trick. Within minutes the season was underway.
No it’s not quite the same as fooling a selective brown trout on a Trico spinner but its a start and there’s no looking back. Here’s to a great 2015!
