Everybody wants to know… When’s the best time, the absolute best time, to catch a big brown. My answer generally involves something along the lines of, “the best time is whenever you can be here to try…”. I firmly believe this is the case as the rare, large specimens seem to show up at random throughout the season.
But, October, according to much that we read and all that makes sense w spawning and so on, does make sense as a big brown trout kind of month and often provides a couple. Bill Vance weaseled this one out of the Missouri today on a crayfish. Beautiful fish. And who says it has to be cloudy! No rules in this game I guess…
