Though there is still snow on ground and in the forecast, winter is slowly but surely losing its grip. The days are longer and average temps are warming. Rivers that were choked with ice just two weeks ago have opened up. Though our winter fishing is generally good, it seems there is more energy out there now. Fish are getting more and more active with the change of seasons. Though rain and warmer temps caused some flooding and muddy conditions last week, rivers have dropped and cleared. Just today I had a fantastic afternoon of fishing right outside of town. Mostly nymphing as the midge hatch was slim and there were few risers. Also had some terrific reports from the spring creeks as well. Looking forward to the week ahead and hoping for clouds, midges and rising fish. It’s been a long winter, I’m ready to fish!
