Mid September, time to check back with the Missouri. Though it seems to have potential to be at most any point in the year, I’m particularly fond of both spring and fall up here. If I spent the summer and winter up here I’d most likely be including them as well.
Needless to say, the crowds are gone now, the fall hatches have started and the fish are on the feed. In the past few days we’ve caught them on big dries, small dries, nymphs under dries, nymphs under indicators, dead drifted streamers, swinging streamers….you get the point. That’s the beauty of this place, one can fish it most any way and have good success.
Looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow….who knows what it will bring. Just yesterday a random Kokanee salmon showed up on the line. A first for me. Must have slipped through the Holter Dam out of the lake. Plenty if mystery out there on the water.
